In case you need to hear this, you are already intuitive.
You always have and always will have your own deep, inexorable connection with your inner voice, the channel and cord that tethers and binds you to all things numinous.
No one can give you this, because you’ve never been separate from it. There is no certification course, no title, no training, no act of bestowing that can grant you access to what you have a birthright to. Other folks can help us along the way in our lifelong process of reclaiming and trusting this part of ourselves, but they cannot give us a key to unlock the door.
Your intuition – and everything that flows to you from that wellspring – knows you. It chooses you, loves you, and witnesses you.
This is true even if you don’t believe in intuition. This is true even if you don’t believe you are intuitive. This is true even if you are in your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and you harbor a belief that real intuitives know they are intuitive from childhood and that doesn’t include you because your intuition looks different from theirs. This is true especially if you have a very loud brain, or you’ve survived trauma, or you’re living in devastating times, and/or if you’re in survival mode for any reason – we can access our intuition if we have or are currently moving through one or more of these experiences, but it is a hell of a lot harder. That fact deserves to be normalized and validated, so you never feel like Spirit or your channel has abandoned you in your most needful hour. They are still there, but they might be more challenging to perceive in the present circumstances or situation.
Many of us think or believe that if we were really intuitive, we would know it beyond a shadow of a doubt, but it’s just not true. Everyone is different, and intuition looks a little different from person to person. The big task for all of us is discovering and expanding our willingness to get to know our intuition better, and by extension, ourselves.
Intuition cannot solve all of our problems. Being an intuitive doesn’t mean you don’t ever make mistakes, or miss something that might seem so obvious to other folks around you. It doesn’t grant us access to all of the information. It cannot deliver us out of the hells we live through, but it can, on occasion, make the hells a little less horrific. It can help us to remain connected to a great and immense sense of love as we traverse through our trials.
Intuition tethers us back to a wiser, infinitely more spacious whisper of truth above the din of our fears and worries. We are never alone, and our intuition reminds us of this.
For some folks, intuition is a cosmic, enraptured, whirlwind adventure, taking them into realms beyond this consciousness, opening them to the mysteries of the universe. For others, their intuition lives much more in the realm of this earthly, practical plane. Whether or not we’re giving ourselves credit for this, our intuition might aid us in showing up bravely to a challenging situation, or it might be helping us to quietly break curses within our own family, or it might be blooming open in the moments that we are treating our patients, tending to our clients, or teaching our students.
I really appreciate that The High Priestess is one of the big intuitive cards of the Tarot. For many, in fact, it’s the patron saint of channelers, soothsayers, wise conduits, and seers.
The High Priestess is connected to the Moon, which I think can widen and expand our capacity for understanding this card to an immense degree.
The Moon is a perfect metaphor for our intuition. The Moon is not linear. Neither is our intuition. The Moon waxes and wanes, spirals and cycles – just like our intuition. The Moon is always the Moon, but how we view it, the sign it is in, and the phase it is in, changes from day to day. The same is true with our intuition.
I think some of the greatest pain and wounding that we have around our intuition stems from this general misunderstanding linearity versus spiralness, as it pertains to our inner voice. Intuition will be different when you’re in the waiting room at the ER, versus cuddled up on a couch on a cozy day.
Our intuition, like the Moon, is ever present, always accessible, always available, while simultaneously being ever changing, ever evolving. It never leaves us, even if we cannot feel or see it.
Your intuition, like you, was never meant to be static. Understanding and making peace with that is the key to getting closer and more intimate with it.
Below is a gentle, simple spread to touch in and say hi to your intuition as it is showing up for you today. Feel free to engage with it if it feels useful.
